ABOUT THE ROLE

The OH&S manager is responsible for ensuring that our client meets/exceeds all its regulatory, legislative and customer requirements through the management of an Occupational Health and Safety Compliance framework. The role is required to maintain a proactive continuous improvement methodology in relation to this function and facilitate system improvements across all areas relevant to the role as required. With over 80 employees in Beaver Trees and approximately 90 employees in QTM Traffic they are looking for someone to cover both business if possible.

By planning, administering, and reviewing all aspects associated with the role, the OH&S manager will also take responsibility for leading a positive and proactive OH&S culture across the business, whilst ensuring legislative and regulatory standards are met at all times.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead the OH&S function within the business by informing, educating and guiding all employees about their WHS responsibility to maintain a safe workplace
  • Preparation, arrangement and participation in internal and external audits to ensure that regulatory standards are being met
  • Proactively recommend alterations and improvements to enhance Beaver Tree Services’ compliance with regulatory and legislative requirements
  • Develop and maintain a register of external contractors engaged by the business
  • Implement Policy and Process relating to all external contractors engaged by Beaver Tree Services
  • Ensure all contractors are compliant with regulatory and legislative requirements
  • Responsible for the safety performance of self and all employees, contractors & visitors
  • Complete required incident reports when required
  • Apply and promote company policies and procedures in all work practices
  • Ensure compliance to all Government Legislated requirements
  • Responsible for performing a designated role in emergency events to ensure the continuity of Beaver Tree services in the event of an emergency
  • Understanding, supporting and demonstrating the Beaver Tree services’ value, inclusive of (but not limited to) treating everyone with respect and ensuring ‘quality’ in all facets of their delivery
  • Monitoring and effective management of budgets, overtime, resourcing
  • Promotion of continuous improvement and innovation
  • Promotion of positive and proactive collaboration between departments
  • Escalation of matters outside the scope of this role to the General Manager
  • Other duties as required within the general scope of this role

ABOUT YOU

The successful candidate will need:

  • Formal qualifications in OH&S with related senior level experience in leading the OH&S function
  • Significant experience in a risk/compliance role at Management level
  • Deep understanding of risk management and its application in complex organisations
  • Experience in rolling out governance, compliance and risk systems including associated software
  • Excellent communication skills including an ability to convert complex information into plain English
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Knowledge and experience in legislation and regulatory standards
  • Ability to work with and influence a broad range of stakeholders
  • Ability to see the big picture and get into the detail
  • Excellent change management and negotiation skills
  • High level communication skills both verbal and written
  • A proven ability, and commitment, to manage workplace conflict
  • Ability to understand the needs of internal and external customers
