Recruitment of a Marketing Manager

How we recruited a Marketing Manager for a winery

Our client

Our client is a recently established company, which is developing an existing property into a unique, sustainable vineyard. They are creating an eco-friendly farm environment and constructing a new energy efficient, low impact winery.

  • Location - Margaret River, WA
  • Industry - hospitality
  • Size - 10 employees

We applied our three-phase service delivery model ↗ for this recruitment drive.

Video job advertisement

Social media algorithms favour videos over still content, so we create video advertisements for all vacancies to help source our candidates.

We take full advantage of this unique and highly effective form of candidate sourcing in order to reach the right candidate at the right time.

We post our videos on Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook. They are posted on these platforms 10-20 times, based on relevance. Our videos typically receive over 1,000 views within the first 24 hours.

Job advertisement

We constantly refresh, rewrite and reformat our job advertisements to optimise the quality of applications received. Our approach is aggressive - we post around 20 advertisements for every permanent job. Advertisements are posted on:

  • Job boards - Seek, Adzuna, Glassdoor, Indeed and Jora
  • Social media - LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter
  • 11 Recruitment's website

On average, our advertisements receive over 100 applications and perform well above the market benchmark for Seek, shown in this graph ↗

DISC profiling

Similar to people, jobs have their own behavioural profile that is based on duties, environment and communication. We create a profile for every job vacancy, enabling us to match an applicant's behaviour against that of a specific role.

We use DISC, which examines the following attributes:

  • Dominance - accomplishing results, the bottom line, confidence
  • Influence - persuading others, openness, dependability
  • Steadiness - cooperation, sincerity, dependability
  • Compliance - quality, accuracy, expertise

DISC profile - Marketing Manager

This is a role that requires a thoughtful and steady type of individual who thinks before acting by weighing up the pros and cons of a decision. The role should not expect the person to act impulsively as they will need the time to prepare, and the subsequent result is likely to be improved efficiency.

The role requires someone who is a team player and is able to work well in a group-oriented situation, with the interest of the team at heart rather than their own personal gratification. The person should be happy to be a member of the team rather than leading it. In some circumstances, these individuals are likely to specialise in the particular discipline and if they lead the team it would be because of their specialist skills.

Together with the other behavioural requirements for this job, the person would need to have determination and persistence to focus on getting the job done. The person is likely to be the sort who does not like dynamic change and could be seen to be stubborn with their intent to stick with the job and get on with it without interruption.

The role requires someone who will be comfortable with doing what some people might consider to be repetitive routine work over extended periods and must remain focused on the job at hand and be oblivious to any distractions around them.

Additionally, this role requires a person with an eye for detail and analytical approach to problem solving and the ability to concentrate on details paying attention the need for precision and accuracy. The individual will be inclined to give due consideration to problems and may take time reaching a decision, due to the need to check their findings to ensure the job is done thoroughly.

There may be occasions when the person may be called upon to explain and present their ideas and viewpoints and this will require the ability to communicate effectively and succinctly.

Feedback

"The service that I have been receiving from Christian is professional, friendly and most importantly person.

You don't find it everyday that a Managing Director takes time out of their busy day to interact with clients on that level - a true sign that the customer does come first.

Keep up the good work Christian and team."
