Director of Operations

The role

The duties for this role will include:

  • Undertaking all farm management to ensure efficiency and welfare of livestock exportation
  • Overseeing the transportation logistics between stations
  • Managing a team of approximately 40 farmhands and veterinarians
  • Maintaining compliance with WH&S policies, and safe work practices
  • Undertaking regular risk assessments and implementing relevant mitigation actions
  • Managing the animal husbandry and welfare for the farm

About you

The successful candidate will have:

  • Experience running all day-to-day operations of a sheep farm
  • Experience in large-scale farm management
  • The ability to manage, organise, and operate a livestock property
  • The ability to conduct internal stock movement, monitoring, induction, exiting, sorting, classing, marking and healthcare / welfare supervision
  • Comprehensive knowledge of safe-keeping sheep
  • The ability to identify associated risks with the livestock exportation
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to work with key decision-makers

Experience with farm logistics, including livestock exportation, would also be an advantage.

About our client
Our client is seeking an experienced Director of Operations to be responsible for farm management and logistics for sheep from Western Australia to Saudi Arabia. You will relocate to Jeddah to run the farm on-site with complete responsibility for large-scale sheep management.
The farm is 20km2 with plans of expansion into 2020. There will be an estimated 100k - 110k sheep located at the farm.
