Legacy Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is a premier martial arts academy dedicated to teaching Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to individuals of all ages and skill levels. With multiple locations across New South Wales, Legacy BJJ’s mission is to build a strong community through discipline, self-confidence, and respect, while providing high-quality training in a safe and friendly environment.
 
On behalf of Legacy BJJ, we are seeking a skilled and passionate Sports Development Officer to promote and enhance the growth of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at Legacy BJJ. The role involves designing and implementing development programs, engaging with the community, recruiting new members, and fostering partnership to advance BJJ participation across various age groups and skills levels.
 
Position Responsibilities and Tasks:

  • Develop and implement sports development strategies to increase participation in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
  • Coordinate and promote BJJ programs, including Kids, Fundamentals, Advanced, and No Gi training sessions.
  • Collaborate with instructions and coaches to refine training methodologies and program structures.
  • Organize and promote community outreach initiatives, school-based programs, and special events to introduce BJJ to new audiences.
  • Manage recruitment and retention strategies to encourage long-term member engagement.
  • Establish partnerships with schools, sports organizations, and local councils to expand BJJ accessibility.
  • Oversee competition preparation, training camps, and talent identification programs.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sports regulations in all training sessions and events.
  • Monitor and evaluate the success of programs, providing reports on participation rates, feedback and overall effectiveness.
  • Promote inclusivity and accessibility, ensuring programs cater to individuals of different backgrounds and abilities.

 
Qualifications and Skills:

  • At least a Diploma in Sports Management, Marketing, Coaching, or a related field.
  • Proven experience of at least 1 year in sports development, coaching, or program coordination.
  • Background in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu or martial arts is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of sports development principles, community engagement, and athlete development pathways.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with people of all ages.
  • Experience in event planning, partnership development, and grassroots sports promotion is an advantage.

 
Salary: This is a full-time position with competitive remuneration between $73,000 – $80,000 p.a. plus superannuation for a 38-hour work week.
