Chef - Munchies Sushi

  • Salary Range: $70,000 – $80,000 per annum (exclusive of superannuation)
  • Location: Position based in Dee Why, NSW 2099

Position Overview:
Munchies Sushi Dee Why is a vibrant, locally loved sushi restaurant known for its fresh, high-quality sushi and Japanese-inspired dishes. We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic full time. Chef to join our team and help continue our tradition of exceptional food and service. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in a dynamic kitchen environment and has a passion for crafting delicious, beautiful sushi.
 
Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the kitchen team to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of food preparation and service.
  • Prepare and create high-quality sushi, sashimi, and other Japanese-inspired dishes, ensuring consistency and freshness at all times.
  • Oversee kitchen cleanliness and hygiene standards, ensuring compliance with food safety regulations. 
  • Work closely with front-of-house staff to ensure timely and accurate food delivery, optimizing guest experience.
  • Develop and innovate new menu items in collaboration with the management team to keep the offering fresh and exciting.
  • Train, mentor, and motivate kitchen staff, ensuring they have the skills and knowledge to perform at their best.
  • Manage kitchen inventory and order supplies as needed, keeping waste to a minimum and ensuring stock levels are maintained.
  • Ensure smooth kitchen operations, even during peak service times, maintaining high standards of food quality and presentation.

Requirements:

  • Relevant Qualification
  • Proven experience (at least 1 years) in a similar chef role within a busy kitchen, ideally with a focus on sushi or Japanese cuisine.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail, with a passion for creating high-quality dishes.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays.
  • A genuine passion for Japanese cuisine and creating memorable food experiences.

Salary: Competitive salary based on experience. This is a full-time position with competitive remuneration between $70,000 – $80,000 p.a. plus superannuation for a 38-hour work week.
