SMYL Community College is now looking for highly motivated sport and recreation teachers, commencing in 2020.  The positions will be working across our campuses in Fremantle, Cockburn, Rockingham, Kwinana and Mandurah.The College is a referral only ‘Curriculum and Re-engagement in Education' (CARE) School that caters specifically for students who have disengaged from mainstream education.  The College offers a full-time alternative education programme under the School Education Act 1999 (WA) for 12 to 20 year olds.All students referred to the College have significant barriers to education. Teaching and learning is adjusted, and support services provided, to meet students’ needs. As a CARE school the College provides a programme of study meeting the needs of an individual student delivered through an Individual Education Plan (IEP).The successful applicant would be required to work as part of a collaborative and multi-disciplinary team whose objective is to engage all students in learning, no matter how difficult their behaviour. The College utilises a case management model that involves identifying and understanding each student’s issues and developing appropriate solutions.The multi-disciplinary team includes occupational therapist, clinical psychologists, psychologists, case workers, Aboriginal support workers, re-engagement officers, teachers/trainers, literacy and numeracy specialists, education assistants, curriculum officers and careers advisors.The role of the sport and recreation teacher is to provide a school wide program of physical movement and activity, including the incorporation of physical education in to each students IEP.
