Recreational Skippers Ticket TrainerSMYL Community Services, a registered charity and leading education and training provider requires a suitably qualified and experienced person for the position of Recreational Skippers Ticket Trainer delivering the Western Australian Recreational Skippers Ticket.This position is a part-time position working 3 days per week. The role will involve delivering training and assessment to at-risk youth who attend our south west metropolitan College campuses. The College is a referral only ‘Curriculum and Re-engagement in Education' (CARE) School that caters specifically for students who have disengaged from mainstream education. The College offers a full-time alternative education programme under the School Education Act 1999 (WA) for 14 to 17 year olds.As a CARE school the College ‘provides a programme of study meeting the needs of an individual student delivered through an Individual Education Plan.A boat and all equipment will be available. Trainers are responsible for providing training, conducting assessments and supporting clients. In addition they are responsible for assisting in the maintenance of course material to ensure students receive fair, valid, consistent and relevant service.The successful candidate/s will need to demonstrate:Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, TAE40116, or recognised equivalent;Hold a recreational skippers ticketFulfil the requirements of the Marine Safety (Domestic Commercial Vessel) National Law Act 2012 to master a domestic commercial vessel under Exemption 38; or Hold a Coxswain 2 Near Coastal Certificate of Competency (or an equivalent) or a higher Certificate of Competency required under the Marine Safety (Domestic Commercial Vessel) National Law Act 2012 to master a domestic commercial vesselHas at least three months sea-time approved by DoTCurrent First Aid CertificateCurrent Working With Children CardNational police clearanceCurrent drivers licenceAbility to work with at-risk young people.Applications should include a cover letter addressing the above criteria, an up to date resume with references.
